Welcome to the September issue of Main Street Magazine.

My northern adventure began when my friend Jen called me on Friday July 30th. Yes it’s true, technically I was not in Northern Ontario yet, the road trip would not begin until Sunday August 1st when we would spend 10+ hours in the car driving from Southern Ontario to Sault Ste Marie. Just the same, the minute the phone rang...my adventure began.

“I ‘m looking for Ms. Rivers, Ms. Tilly Rivers” I knew that impish voice, my girl was up to something.

“You got her” I replied with a smile.

“I’m on highway 400” she informed me, I did a quick calculation in my mind...she is about an hour and a bit away. “And oh yeah, is it all right if I bring my sister with me?”

“Nope” I tell her with the same sass, “Drop her off at the corner and we will pick her up on the way back on Sunday.”

She laughed and hung up with a see you soon.

I had never met Jen’s sister before, but of course heard of her often and was looking forwarding to getting to know her. Friday night us girls let loose, music and tequila...and a very brave neighbour who decided to come for a visit and was...well that’s another story. Let’s just say that you get to know someone when tequila is involved, it should be a rule, like Murphy’s Law or something, ice breaker number one: drink Tequila.

Speaking of drinks...Clare Jackson has returned from his vacation with some new spirits for us to try, Rosemary Peters is tempting our taste buds with her Golden Gazpacho
Recipe and Lily’s Garden never displeases with her line up on male ‘eye-candy’ for us to enjoy, and all your favourite monthly columns are here for your enjoyment.
You will also discover as an added twist of flavour and zing in this month’s issue a story and pictures from my great northern adventure.

A special thanks to Jen, for showing me what poison ivy looks like, delivering as promised a flush toilet and hot shower-for introducing me to great people, showing me nature at its most sincere and staying up late drinking wine and chatting. Love ya!
And oh yes, for the record, for any male readers out there, girls do talk about you guys, it is one of our favourite subjects.

With love
~T~
